EDAD 523: P-T-P Project- Developing a First Year Experience Program for Multiracial Students
Description: During this course we became familiar with student development theories and how they may be used by student affairs practitioners. In order to more completely understand how theory may be used to inform program development, students worked in groups to complete a Practice-Theory-Practice project. My group chose to create a first year experience program for multicultural students.
Date/Semester: Summer 2015
Learning Domains Addressed: Leadership, Education, and Assesment & Evaluation

Reflection:
For SLO #1, I rated myself as Advanced because I feel that my group and I were able to complete a thorough review of literature that included relevant theories. This literature review informed our development of a first year experience program for multicultural students as we were able to identify common trends and issues for this population. We then attempted to address these in our interventions.
For SLO #2, I rated myself as Competent
because I felt that our conceptual framework could have used some support and our interventions could also benefit from more attention to detail with regard to incorporating theory. I believe we had several strong interventions, however, we struggled to make strong connects to our guiding framework in the amount of time allotted.
